Search & Results

TCG Archivist features a powerful search system that lets you find cards across your entire collection or the complete Magic: The Gathering database.

Access the search screen by tapping the search icon in the top-right corner of the home screen.

Search Scope

Choose where to search:

  • All Cards - Search the entire Magic database (all printings)
  • Collection - Search only cards you own
  • Optionally filter by specific storage locations
  • Include or exclude cards with no location assigned

Search Filters

Card Name

  • Enter one or more card names
  • Choose AND (all names must match) or OR (any name matches)
  • Supports partial name matching

Oracle Text

  • Search card text for specific words or phrases
  • Multiple terms supported with AND/OR logic

Type Line

  • Filter by card types (Creature, Instant, Sorcery, etc.)
  • Supports multiple types with AND/OR logic

Keywords

  • Search for specific keyword abilities
  • Examples: Flying, Trample, Haste, etc.

Colors

  • Filter by color identity
  • Options: White, Blue, Black, Red, Green, Colorless, Multicolor
  • Choose color matching mode:
  • Exactly these colors - Card must be exactly the selected colors
  • At least these colors - Card must include all selected colors (may have more)
  • At most these colors - Card can only have the selected colors (may have fewer)

Mana Value (CMC)

  • Filter by converted mana cost
  • Supports multiple conditions: =, <, >
  • Combine conditions with AND/OR

Power/Toughness

  • Filter creatures by power and toughness
  • Multiple conditions supported
  • Option to include cards with * power/toughness

Set Code

  • Filter by Magic set
  • Enter set codes (e.g., MH3, BRO, ONE)

Finish

  • Filter by card finish: Normal, Foil, Etched

Price Range

  • Set minimum and/or maximum price in USD
  • Based on current Scryfall pricing

Search Results

After searching, results are displayed in a grid view showing card images.

Result Display

Each card shows: - Card image - Price badge (bottom center) - Owned quantity badge (if you own copies) - Set code and collector number (in versions view) - Finish badge (for foil/etched cards)

Viewing Options

Grouped View (default): - Shows one representative card per unique name - Displays total owned count across all versions

Versions View: - Shows all printings separately - Each set/version appears as its own card - Filter by set code using the search box at top

Sorting

Sort results by: - Name (A-Z or Z-A) - Mana Value (CMC ascending or descending) - Price (high to low or low to high)

Selection Mode

Selection mode allows you to perform bulk actions on multiple cards.

Entering Selection Mode

Tap the select icon in the top-right corner of the search results.

Selecting Cards

  • Tap cards to select/deselect them individually
  • Select All - Select all cards in the current search results
  • Deselect All - Clear all selections

Select All with Exclusions

When you use Select All: - All cards in your search results are selected - Tap individual cards to exclude them from the selection - The count shows "All selected (X excluded)" if you've deselected any

Bulk Actions

Once you've selected cards, use the action buttons in the top bar:

Move Selected

Move all selected cards to a new storage location:

  1. Tap the Move icon
  2. View the selection summary (unique names, versions, total cards)
  3. Choose a destination location (or leave empty to remove location)
  4. Confirm to move all selected cards

Tips: - Type to search existing locations - Enter a new name to create a location - Leave empty to clear the location field

Add to Deck

Add selected cards to a deck:

  1. Tap the Add to Deck icon
  2. Choose an existing deck or create a new one
  3. Cards are added to the main deck with quantity 1 each
  4. If a card is already in the deck, quantity is increased

Export Selected

Export selected cards to CSV:

  1. Tap the Export icon
  2. Choose export options:
  3. Include Scan Order - Add sequential numbering
  4. Separate Rows - One row per card instance (no quantity grouping)
  5. Save or share the CSV file

CSV includes: - Location, Name, Set code, Collector number - Finish, Quantity (unless separate rows) - Scryfall ID, Colors, CMC, Type - Scan Order (if enabled)

Delete Selected

Remove selected cards from your collection:

  1. Tap the Delete icon
  2. Review the deletion summary
  3. Confirm to permanently remove the cards

Warning: This action cannot be undone. Cards are permanently deleted from your collection.

Card Details

Tap any card in the search results to view:

  • Full card image (front and back for double-faced cards)
  • Current pricing (normal, foil, etched)
  • Set information and rarity
  • Quantity owned and storage locations
  • Deck allocations (if in any decks)

From the detail view you can: - Edit quantities - Change storage locations - Remove cards from collection - Change versions of the card

Search Tips

Finding Specific Cards

  • Use exact card names for precise results
  • Combine name + set code to find specific printings

Building Complex Queries

  • Use multiple filters together for precise searches
  • Example: Red creatures with CMC ≤ 3 and power ≥ 2

Collection Management

  • Search by location to view cards in specific boxes/binders
  • Use price filters to find valuable cards
  • Filter by finish to locate foils

Deck Building

  • Search "All Cards" scope to find cards you don't own yet
  • Use color filters to find cards that fit your deck's identity
  • Filter by type to find specific card types you need
